East Bay Regional Parks

Antioch-Oakley Regional Shoreline
Regional park featuring a 550 foot fishing pier on the San Joaquin River. Located just upstream from Nejedly Bridge on Highway 160 in Antioch. Popular activities in the park include fishing, day picnics, and kite flying. Note that no swimming or overnight camping is allowed.The park was formerly known as Antioch Regional Shoreline. It was renamed in 1999 when the city of Oakley was Incorporated.

Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve
Preserve more than 6,000 acres in size. Activities include camping, hiking, picnics, and docent led programs. Tours of the Hazel Atlas Mine are available on weekends March through November, including half hour first-come-first-served tours and 1.5 hour reservations-only tours. Facilities include the Sidney Flat Visitor Center, the Greathouse Visitor Center, the Star Mine Camping Area, and the Stewartville Backpack Camp. Contra Loma Regional Park
780 acre regional park with an 80 acre reservoir. Activities include fishing, hiking, biking, nature walks, and a lifeguarded swimming lagoon in the summer. Located in the East Bay Regional Park District at 1200 Frederickson Lane in Antioch. Phone: 888-327-2757.

Prewett Family Park and Aquatic Center

Refuges and Preserves

Antioch Dunes National Wildlife Refuge
55 acre, riverfront, protected natural area adjacent to the east side of Antioch Not open to the public except on the second Saturday of every month when one-hour docent guided tours are offered in the morning.l The refuge was established in 1980. Features sand dunes up to 50 feet high.

Dow Wetlands Wildlife Habitat Preserve
Shoreline preserve established in 1989 when Dow purchased the property from U.S. Steel as an environmental buffer zone between the Dow Plant and local neighborhoods.
