Channel Islands National Park
Five of the eight Channel Islands off the coast of Southern California were designated a United States National Monument in 1938, a National Biosphere Reserve in 1976, and they were promoted from a national monument to a national park in 1980. The five islands included in the park are San Miguel Island, Santa Rosa Island, Anacapa Island, Santa Barbara Island, and Santa Cruz Island. Channel Islands National Park is located in both Santa Barbara County and Ventura County.

Death Valley National Park
Death Valley was declared a United States National Monument in 1933 and it was redesignated a National Park in 1994. When the area was declared a national park it was expanded to include the Saline Valley and the Eureka Valley, making its total size about 5,260 square miles. Death Valley National Park is located in both Inyo County and San Bernardino County and small parts of it are also in Nevada's Nye County and Esmeralda County.
