- San Andreas Nugget was found north of town in August of 1852
- that nugget sold for $12,000 in 1859
- in 1859 more then $500,000 in gold dust was shipped from San Andreas
- Black Bart was tried in San Andreas for Nov 3, 1883 stage robbery
- County seat moved from Mokelumne Hill to San Andreas in 1866
