Chico is the home of Bidwell Park, one of the largest
city parks in the United States.
The park was established in 1905 when
Annie Bidwell, the widow of Chico founder John Bidwell,
donated 2,500 acres of land to the city of Chico.
Additional land purchased since that time have
increased the park size to about 3,670 acres.
and about 11 miles in length.
