Holbrooke Hotel
Historic 27 room hotel that has been continuously
operated since 1862. When the hotel was built
it incorporated the Golden Gate Saloon, which
has been continuously operated since 1852.
Notable hotel guests have included "Gentleman Jim" Corbett,
Lotta Crabtree, Bob Fitzsimmons, Bret Harte, Jack London,
Lola Montez, Emma Nevada, Mark Twain, and
three US Presidents, James Garfield, Ulysses S. Grant,
and Benjamin Harrison. Today the Holbrooke Hotel is
most well-known for its gourmet restaurant and its bar
with live music. The hotel is California Historic Landmark #914

Grass Valley Public Library
Carnegie Library built in 1905 that was designed by
San Francisco architect William Mooser. Listing number 92000267
on the United States National Register of Historic Places.

Lola Montez Home
A reproduction of the home of notorious singer
and dancer Lola Montez sits on the site of the original home
in downtown Grass Valley.
Designated as California Historic Landmark #292.
Located at 248 Mill Street in Grass Valley.
Lotta Crabtree Home
Home where singer and dancer Lotta Crabtree was living when she met
Lola Montez. Designated as California Historic Landmark #293.
Located at 238 Mill Street in Grass Valley.
Mount Saint Mary's Convent and Academy
Built in the mid 1860's. Functioned as an
orphanage from 1866 to 1932, functioned as
an academy from 1868 to 1965, and functioned
as a convent from 1866 to 1968.
Designated California State Historic Landmark #855 in 1972.
Added to the United States National Register of
Historic Places in 1974.
