Pantry Cole Slaw

Recipe for the cole slaw served at the Original Pantry Cafe in Downtown Los Angeles, Southern California.

Pantry Cole Slaw Ingredients
- 3/4 of a cup of mayonnaise
- 3 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons of white wine vinegar
- 1/3 cup of vegetable oil
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/8 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/8 teaspoon celery salt
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 1/2 cup half and half
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- Dash black pepper
- 1 large head of cabbage, shredded

Pantry Cole Slaw Instructions
Blend the mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar, and vegetable oil. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, dry mustard, celery salt, half-and-half, and the salt, and stir or shake until smooth. Pour the dressing over the shredded cabbage and stir until the cabbage is well coated.

Variations: I often include a bit of shredded purple cabbage and shredded carrot in this recipe, but my efforts to "improve" the dressing by substituting (for example) fresh onion, garlic, and celery have not been as tasty as the original recipe.
